Top 10 Success Strategies That Will Change Your Life

Keep this close to you. Print it and keep in your wallet. Read and re-read. It works.

1. Build trust- Be consistent and keep your word.
2. Reciprocity Principle- Become interested and helpful to others. When you are interested in them, others will be interested in you.
3. Goal Setting- Make a 12 month goal. Check in with quarterly goals. If you don’t take your eye off your goal you can reach your goal in 9 months.
4. Opportunity- Believe it or not, this is where women hit the wall. Women fail most at saying yes to opportunity because of non related reasons. Promise yourself to say yes!
5. Community service- Be in touch with others like you. Apply your skill set to an organization that needs you.
6. Believe in yourself- You become what you tell yourself you are.
7. Speak clearly- Be a straight shooter. Be clear, direct and honest.
8. Only make commitments you can keep- never say you will do something you can’t do.
9. You are the only brand you truly own- be vigilant in protecting it.
10. Breathe- Center, calm down, focus on others good traits, and how you can be of help to them. This will calm you and create meaningful days.

Barack Obama and John McCain Using Speaking Secrets that Cost Hillary Clinton the Election

Senators Obama and McCain are both using more sophisticated speaking techniques to influence the public in their campaigns than Clinton used. It is one of the leading factors that kept her from reaching and influencing more people.

Obama and Mc Cain are using speaking techniques designed to reach three different types of listeners in their audiences. Clinton spoke in a way that only addresses one type and, because of that, she left two-thirds of her audience members out. There are three different types of listeners, and each type listens and retains information completely different from the other two. An Adult listener is either a:

*Kinesthetic Listener- Obama and McCain address these listeners using pitch variety, slower tempo and personal, vulnerable content.
*Auditory Listener- Obama and McCain address these with metaphor and story, use medium fast tempos and varied pitches
*Visual Listener- Clinton, Obama and McCain address these with more formality with facts and figures, in a faster tempo, use a flat pitch, and construct short to the point sentences.

Each of the three types of listeners has a strong preference for a specific pace, tempo, pitch and content designed for what they listen for and the way they listen best in order to become fully engaged.

To be a successful speaker today, one must design and deliver all talks to meet the three ways people listen or you leave people out as Clinton did.

Of the three candidates, Obama is using the technique that is best to reach and influence everyone in his audiences. Mc Cain is second and Clinton was a distant third. She is still using mainly one mode of speaking and delivery and is leaving many people out of her field of influence as a result.

In 90 minutes Clinton could have learned the most powerful speaking technique today and would have addressed two-thirds more of the public.

Slam Dunk Speech Openings that Grab Your Audience

You only get one speech opening, so learn to make it work! There are special techniques that help you bond instantly with your audience. I call these “I-You-We” moments. I will talk about the power of “I-You-We” moments and how to create them.

You are making a speech. You have done your homework, and know who you are talking to and why. You have spoken at length with the client and are clear about what needs to be accomplished in your talk, and what the client wants the audience to feel and do as a result of your talk. The content of your talk is written. Now you need some slam dunk speaking techniques that will humanize you, create trust, and completely bond you with the audience you are with. And you need it fast.

Here’s what I do. I ALWAYS arrive early to my events and TALK to people. Walk the room, set your things up, find out what important happenings have surfaced. Find out if there any running company jokes, inside stories…Has the CEO used a new motivating phrase, has anything else been introduced, has anything gone wrong and provided humor? You can use all of this with your audience. It creates an “I-You-We” moment that creates trust and tells audiences that you care enough about them to know what is really going on with them.
